Detailed 3-Day Rwanda First-Class Gorilla Trekking Safari

Day 1: Travel to Volcanoes National Park – Rwanda

Today, you will be picked up from either the airport on your arrival or your hotel. You will take a short Kigali city tour exploring the major historical and cultural sites like the Kigali Genocide Memorial Center, the craft markets in Kigali, the Kandt National Museum, and the presidential museum, depending on the time. After visiting some of these sites, you will have lunch at a restaurant in the city to enjoy local foods or continental meals, depending on your preference. After lunch in Kigali, we embark on the journey to the home of mountain gorillas in Volcanoes National Park. The driving time is 2 hours and 30 minutes, or 35 minutes by helicopter ride (Augusta).

Day 2: Gorilla Tracking in Volcanoes National Park – Rwanda

After an early breakfast, you are ready to start your gorilla trek. The 3-Day Rwanda First-Class Gorilla Trekking Safari driver guide will transfer you to the briefing area, where you will learn about the expectations from the ranger guide about trekking in the park. In the meantime, as you wait for everyone to gather, enjoy the Rwandan hospitality of traditional dances and Rwandan coffee. The ranger guide will share some gorilla trekking tips, such as no flash photography. Later, you will be divided into different gorilla trekking groups. Depending on the location of the family of gorillas you will trek, the driver guide will transfer you to the start of the trail of your allocated gorilla group.

You can spend the afternoon at leisure as you recover from the gorilla trekking experience, or take on an optional activity such as visiting the Musanze Caves or the Twin Lakes.

Day 3: Gorilla Guardians Village and Departure

After yesterday’s amazing gorilla trekking activity in Rwanda, today, you explore a bit of culture at the Gorilla Guardians Village for a taste of the history and culture of Rwanda. Some of the members of this cultural village are former poachers who depend on the forest for survival. This cultural village contributes heavily to the conservation of mountain gorillas because they can earn money from sharing their culture instead of poaching.
