Detailed 5-Day Uganda Experience Safari

Day 1: Arrive in Uganda and Drive to Kibale Forest National Park

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport in Uganda for the 5-Day Uganda Safari. You will be picked up by our EcoQuest Safaris Ltd representative with your name printed on an A4 paper. You will be transferred to Kibale National Park. You will drive through Mityana, then the Kyejonjo district, and reach the colorful and beautiful town of Fort Portal. It is the capital of the Tooro Kingdom, situated in the shadow of the fabled “Mountains of the Moon,” the Rwenzori Mountains. You will either have lunch on your way or at your lodge.

After you have checked into your room, you head out to visit Bigodi Swamp. This is a beautiful area in the rainforest with an abundance of animals like monkeys, birds, and maybe forest elephants.

Please note: Visiting Bigodi Swamp is optional and will require making a donation (US $40 per person) to support the community of Bigodi.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale and Travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park in the Afternoon

The tracking will start early and takes about two to three hours, depending on the location of the chimpanzees. After the trek, you will go to your next destination, Queen Elizabeth National Park. This is a huge park where wildlife and people co-exist in harmony to experience of the 5-Day Uganda Safari.

You will check in at your hotel for lunch, and then head out for a boat ride on the Kazinga Channel which connects Lake Edward and Lake George. Some of the best wildlife viewings are done on a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, passing squacco herons, pied kingfishers, large numbers of buffaloes and hippos, basking crocodiles, and many different bird species and large mammals. Over 300 hippos are found in the lake.

You will go for an evening game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park, aiming to catch the lions hunting in the evening. Lions usually hunt when the temperatures are cooler. We can also expect to see Uganda kob, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and waterbuck.

Day 3: Visit Ishasha Sector for Tree-climbing Lions and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After an early breakfast, you will be transferred to the Ishasha sector for the tree-climbing lions on the Kasenyi Plains in the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth. The Ishasha sector is notably recognized for its resident tree-climbing lions which are an exceptional attraction and among the highlights of all 5-Day Uganda Safari adventures taken within Queen Elizabeth National Park. In the southern section of this park, the lions are sometimes spotted hanging on branches of huge fig trees.

After the game drive, we move to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home of the famous mountain gorillas. Check in at your lodge for lunch and prepare for yet another highlight of this amazing 5-Day Uganda Safari trip – tracking the mountain gorillas. We will embark on a community walk where you will visit the Batwa, which is an indigenous group of people that have lived in the forest for 500,000 years. You will enjoy traditional dances and drama from them.

Day 4: Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest and Afternoon Travel to Lake Bunyonyi


After breakfast, head out to the park head offices with your guide. You will have a briefing about the do’s and don’t’s while in the park with the gorillas. Afterward, head out for the gorilla trekking through the misty rainforest. Trekking can take between 2 and 6 hours, depending on the location of the gentle giants. Make sure you carry enough water, sturdy shoes, non-flash cameras, and rain jackets.

At the end of this long and exciting 5-Day Uganda Safari adventure, return to your lodge for a well-deserved shower. Have lunch, relax and thereafter check out in the evening for a transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. The twisting water body, dotted with 29 islands of various shapes and sizes scattered across the water, will amaze you.

Day 5: Drive Back to Entebbe Airport for Departure

We will depart at 5 am from Lake Bunyonyi Eco Resort with a packed breakfast and drive to Entebbe Airport (EBB) for the scheduled night flight back home.
